What I Wore Wednesday...Tank Top Refashion Time!

Hey friends!!
Were you wondering if I'd ever do a REAL WIWW again?
The past two weeks I kinda cheated...
I was definitely busy so there were a lot of days where I just looked like yuck & wouldn't dream of showing you what that looks like...but I also feel so weird about taking pics of myself & posting them.
Nevertheless, WIWW sure motivates me to do something with myself!

LEFT:
Tank- JCP
Skirt- Thrifted
Sandals- Ocean Minded -favorites!
CENTER:
Top: VonMaur
(purchased for honeymoon 6yrs ago!)
Flower Pin - Pretty Pink Posie
Capris - not sure
Sandals - not sure
RIGHT:
Top: Kohl's
Bracelet: Jersey Bracelet...
(yep, the 1 from the glue burn incident!)
Shorts: JCP
Sandals: Wal Mart

And Last...
Tank: Old Navy
but I refashioned it a bit
Shorts: Aeropostal
Sandals: Ocean Minded
(although I love my tank & the shorts are super comfy, I think I look like I'm going camping or playing corn-hole in the boonies...well, we may not play corn hole much but at least I got the boonies part right...)

Okay...so here are a couple close-ups of the lil' refashion

BEFORE    &     AFTER

The strap that I cut off/replaced had gotten a bleach spot on it but I didn't want to just trash the tank...even though it is a cheap-o tank from Old Navy. I had this ribbon on hand & really wanted to try something new with it! So this became my 1st clothing refashion experience!

First, I cut the "strap" off.
Second , I gathered the fabric in both places where I cut - to fit my ribbon's width.
Then, I stitched the very long ribbon on to the tank to create a strap.
Next, I cut the ribbon in the middle & tied it in a bow.
Lastly, I hand stitched the bow in place so it wouldn't come undone.
That's it!

I'm linking up at The Pleated Poppy today :)

I Need A Break...

Everywhere I look there's something that needs done. It's gotten so bad around here that I don't know where to start.  There are piles of dirty laundry on my kitchen floor, a sink/counter full of dishes that need washed. My fridge needs a good bath - inside & out, the contents of our only closet downstairs are in my dining room after being kicked out for a tornado warning last night. My poor children need haircuts so bad and baths too - just from walking around on our dirty floors. I'm embarrassed. When I look at my chore/to-do list I feel sick & don't know where to begin. Have you ever had that happen? It seems like a lifestyle for me...not one that I embrace either. I hate it. Matter of fact it makes me grouchy.
I'm leaving on Friday...getting the heck outta here...I've got a ticket to Florida with my name on it (well, kinda...it's an e-ticket..)! I am SO excited to go! I'm going with my mother-in-law & my two sister-in-laws...no kids, no hubbies....YAY! I'll be gone for five days and my suitcase is pretty much packed. I'm just a little anxious for a break...can you tell?
As excited as I am, I have other emotions tugging on my heart. I sobbed to my husband earlier today about how awful I felt for feeling this way towards my life as a stay-at-home mom. It's so overwhelming right now with all that I'm juggling...What's that? You want a list? Good, because I feel the need to make one...
Pre-school-home schooling Caleb
Potty training Keston
...and dealing with all his 2 year old antics (like streaking EVERY time we go outside to play),
Weaning my (teething) baby...not easy...
& protecting him from his bully brother (guess who)
& protecting him from our house that never seems to be as baby proof as I thought it was.
And of course there's all the regular duties that every family has to deal with ALL AT THE SAME TIME...like meals, swim lessons, laundry, bills, yard work, cleaning up and just BEING a family.
I love my children. I love my husband. I love being the one to teach & nurture my children at home every day and I wouldn't trade our life for anything...but I need a break from it.  But WHY do I feel guilty for wanting/ needing a break?
Yes, in my guilty state I have not only packed my luggage a week in advance, but I have also frozen several meals for my family, arranged for Andy to have a sitter 1 night while I'm gone, wrapped daily surprises for my children, stashed some new library books for C&K, and I plan to have the kids' clothes layed out for Andy too. So you see, I'm not just running off...right?

And really, I AM going to miss my kids. How will I ever go to the bathroom without my personal assistants there to get my toilet paper for me?

What I'm wearin' Wednesday...Boo Boo Edition

I feel like such a clumsy FOOL!
Last night around 12:30am I was working on a craft - I know, I know, I should've been in bed at that hour...you'd think I'd know that by now since my kids consistently wake up at 6:30am.
Anyway, I was working on a craft...a jersey bracelet...4 jersey rosettes glued together to make a bracelet. Super cute & I can't wait to show it to you, but sorry, not today. I was using my old school hot glue gun & something very awful happened. I was nearing the end of the construction process as I put hot glue on my last rosette. And THEN, I DROPPED IT! ON MY ANKLE!!!!!!
OUCH!!!!!
I didn't know what to do & I was most definitely panicking as this JUST happened to me four days before...to 5 of my fingers (um, that adds up to a whole hand, people)...Ya see, that's why I feel like such a FOOOOOL! I paused with bug eyes, I'm sure because I couldn't believe this was happening AGAIN. I frantically grabbed the hot & gooey rosette off my ankle exposing a rather nasty burn with a lot less flesh than I expected to see...and of course in my effort to relieve my ankle I burned the tip of yet ANOTHER finger!! Are you KIDDING ME?!?!?
So being experienced in burns...getting them & treating them, I ran my burns under cool (not cold) water for several minutes, then bandaged them up with Aquaphor, rested an ice pack on them & you better believe I took a good dose of IBProfen.  By the time I made it to bed it was 1:30...2:00 by the time I feel asleep. I had a hard time settling down after all that drama. And do you know how hard it is to get comfortable with your ankle on FIRE???!!!
Not only was my whole ordeal FOOLISH, it was clumsy too. I am SOOOO clumsy. In the past 4 hours alone I have managed to bump into 3 things & most certainly bruised my beautiful casper white thighs & bum, dump a whole container of muddy buddies on the floor, scratch 1 child during diapering, & stumble over my living room rug with a load of laundry (thankfully unfolded).
Man, maybe I need a vacation...and a low heat hot glue gun...oh yeah, and a good stock of bandages. Interesting ones...for What I Wore Wednesday...
Nah, too boring...

Hmmm BACON STRIPS or PICKLES??
Decisions, decisions...

Pac Man, Scabs
Toast...
WHERE do they come up with these??

Okay, as much as I hate swear words I have to admit these bandages kinda made me laugh.
Don't judge me...I just got burned by hot glue 7 times.

Creamy Spinach (&Tomato) Tortellini

 Creamy Spinach Tortellini
amazing. mouthwatering . incredible.
warm. satisfying.
"can't wait to make it over & over again" kind of recipe.

Ingredients
1 pkg (16oz) Frozen Cheese Tortellini
1 Small Onion, chopped
2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
3 Garlic Cloves, minced
1 can (14-1/2 oz) Diced Tomatoes, undrained
1 pkg (10oz) Frozen Chopped Spinach, thawed & squeezed dry
1-1/2 tsp dried basil
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1-1/2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
1/2 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
Additional grated Parmesan cheese or mozzarella cheese, optional

1. In a large skillet, saute onion in oil until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer.
2. Add the tomatoes, spinach, basil, salt & pepper. Cook & stir over medium heat until liquid is absorbed, about 3 minutes.
3. Stir in cream and cheese. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered for 8-10 minutes or till thickened.
4. Meanwhile, cook tortellini according to the package directions...I suggest getting your water ready & heating while you work on steps 1,2 & 3.
5, Drain tortellini, toss with sauce. Sprinkle with additional cheese if desired.

 Soooo delicious!
I made this Friday for a friend who came to visit me. She & my husband both LOVED it! I HAD to share it will you...shoot, if I could force feed it to you I WOULD! It's SO good!
My mouth is watering right now - no lie.

Silly Spaghetti-Dogs

Silly Spaghetti Dogs

This is probably one of the weirdest foods I've ever made.
I saw a picture on pintrest.com but have no credit for the idea...I just figured out how it was done & gave it a fitting name.
Not that it was hard.
When I saw it, my initial reaction was "Ewww..." But that soon turned into, "Hmmm....my boys would LOVE that!" Then I giggled a little over the thought of it & put hot-dogs on my grocery list.

Here's how we did it...
although you've probably figured it out already :)

Slice up the hot-dogs & break the spagetti in half

Push the spaghetti through the hot dogs...
...Caleb had the idea to make some look like Octopus
by adding 8 noodles & not pushing them all the way through...
That was pretty clever & oh so smart!

Next, boil according to spaghetti package instructions.
Ours was thin spaghetti & said to boil for 6-9 minutes.

The rest is...well...interesting...
Taste was good, but definitely odd to look at.
Don't they make you giggle too?
They gobbled them up along with every bite of their veggies!
And I was waiting for them ask for sauce or ketchup, but they never did!

If any of you try this, you have to let me know!
I realize that hot-dogs aren't the most nutritious food...which is why I rarely buy them, but these were fun to make & interesting to eat. Definitely SILLY to say the least!

I'm partying here today...
